Barclaycard’s New Dine & Dash App Set to Revolutionise the Dining Experience

Tired of waiting what seems like hours just to pay for your bill after your meal? Well, thanks to Barclaycard this scenario may become a thing of the past!

“Dine & Dash” which has been developed by the bank, is an alternative bill-paying solution which will be unveiled and by trialled in high-street chain Prezzo. This means that servers won’t have to handle any transactions at the table and guests can leave once they’ve finished their meal!

The restaurant sector are always looking for ways to improve the dining experience and this innovation may do just that. Research conducted by Barclaycard revealed that 95 percent of restaurateurs would rather see allocate more time to their staff to focus on delivering quality service, rather than spending time taking payments.

Restaurant owners across the country are looking for the invention that will make paying much more efficient, and who can blame them. A staggering 60% of restaurant owners said that they have seen customers leave without paying!

With this in mind, it should not surprise you that 90% of restaurant owners would be keen to use technology in order to improve the payment process. 67% of those polled also said that is paying through an app would improve customer satisfaction. And customers seem to have a similar viewpoint to restaurant owners, as 38% said they try to avoid waiting for their bill.

It would seem at though the restaurant sector is screaming out for a solution to this dilemma, why is why Barclaycard have invented the aptly named Dine & Dash. The app allows customers to pay automatically with no assistance from staff members. How does it work do you ask? All you have to do is follow three easy steps - “tap, eat and go.”

When a customer enter the restaurant, they have to download the Dine & Dash app and load their payment details. Before customers order their meal, they need to tap the app totem on their table in order to check-in.

Then the fun part, the eating! Diners will place their order and enjoy their meal. Finally, diners get up and go. The totem on the table will change colour to indicate to staff that their diners have payed. Customers will be able to add a tip, split the bill, use discounts where applicable and will receive a digital receipt. Pretty impressive!
